Coaching or Therapy?

Coaching - A powerful relationship is formed between a trained coach and their client, capable of transforming the future of the client's life through mutual design and exploration. Often through a long-term relationship, coaches aid clients to create visions and goals for many aspects of their lives and together develop a variety of strategies to reach those goals. Coaches acknowledge the unique courage and wisdom of each client, supporting their existing skills and offering guidance for adding skill-sets, always encouraging and giving honest feedback along the way.

Therapy - A therapist is trained to deal with a broader range of human issues, ranging from historical family of origin issues to present day marital and parenting concerns. The focus tends to be on the how the past is impacting the present, and what needs to happen for the client to function more fully at work and at home. The therapist listens deeply on many levels, and research indicates that the therapeutic relationship itself contributes to the healing process. Outcomes often include access to a wider range of emotional and feeling states, improved intimacy in relationship, increased spiritual awareness and connection, clearer understanding of why people are the way they are and therefore a greater compassion for one another and a deeper sense of peace.
